Radical memory helper (Ok so technically there are no radicals here, but the rice kanji does look like a tree on fire so...):

In the USA they don't measure/metre out and burn forests to grow RICE.

(I chose to say "don't" because in the US they don't use metres, they use feet and remembering this strengthens the association with the kanji)
