  1. 会意または会意形声。元の字は「(=)」と「」を組み合わせた文字で、先に進むの意。それに「」を加え切りそろえるの意であったが、元の文字が失われたために、先に進むの意に用いられ、切りそろえるの意は「」等に受け継がれた(藤堂)。
