It plays at the opening of the movie, and 2 more times later on.

Your welcome!  It's good practice for me to listen to the lyrics and then try to find the song based on that.

This one is interesting.  The song is called ドナウ川のさざなみ donaugawa no sazanami (Waves of the Danube).

From english wikipedia:
Waves of the Danube" is a waltz composed by Ion Ivanovici in 1880, and is one of the most famous Romanian tunes in the world. The song has many variations throughout the piece, reminiscent of the music of Johann Strauss.

From japanese wikipedia it says:
日本に伝わった当初は歌詞がなく、田村貞一などが作詞し『ドナウ川の漣』として[4]1902年（明治35年）に慶應大学で斉唱された[5]。

(When it first came to Japan it had no lyrics, Teiichi Tamura wrote lyrics for it in 1902 and sung it at Keio University.)

Just also note,

ドナウ河の漣 donaugawa no sazanami is the version by Teiichi Tamura.  It uses different Kanji, but has the same pronunciation and meaning as ドナウ川のさざなみ donaugawa no sazanami (Waves of the Danube).
