Problem with writing pad for touch screen

Hi, I was using my iPad to study kanji using the handwriting options where you draw directly on to the screen in the given box. However I'm having problems with this because the line drawn does not match to where I touched the screen (the line is displaced upwards). So wherever I touch and start drawing, the line that is created is always higher up on the screen. This can be quite frustrating since my writing comes out messy. Can you check and fix this issue please? Thank you!
