Analysis

The grammar is “A に B はいらない” meaning “B is not necessary for A”.

The A is 別れ meaning “farewells” and the B is 多くの言葉 meaning “many words” (多くの followed by a noun means “many”. In daily conversation たくさんの is commonly used as 多くの sounds formal and non-colloquial in this usage. 言葉 means “words”).

The sentence ending particle さ is usually used by optimistic or snobbish men to make the speech sound cool, dry and frank. The most famous anime character who often uses this is Kazuhiko Hanawa from anime series “Chibi Maruko Chan”.

So 別れに多くの言葉はいらないさ means “You don’t need many words for farewells” in a cool way.

Frog’s Quote

You don’t need many words for farewells.

AにBはいらない (B is not necessary for A)

Smartphones are not necessary for primary school students.
Medicines are not necessary for just a cold.
You don’t need love games for relationships.

NOTE

  • いらない can be replaced with 必要ない.
  • When the A is a verb, use the plain-form and add の.
You don’t need to have special talent to draw.

多くの + Noun (many)

I bought a watch with many functions.
So many people are coming to vote.
I read many books during the holidays.

NOTE

  • 多くの can be replaced with たくさんの in this usage.
  • 多くの also means “most”. In this case it can’t be replaced with たくさんの.
After divorce, mothers take custody of the children in most cases.

Sentence Ending Particle さ

We can meet again for sure.
You are my awesome girlfriend.
I don’t mind little things.
