One of the things that will always bewilder me is the existence of vending machines in the middle of nowhere. I'm aware of the low crime rate in Japan but I still can't wrap my head around it.

The presence of vending machines in remote areas is something that has always perplexed me. I've heard of Japan's remarkably low crime rate, but it's still baffling to me.
